2017, November 8– The “irreplaceable bonds” of family and friendship are foremost in Hanna E.’s life. She described these important relationships in her Chapel Talk, delivered on Nov. 8. She paid a special tribute in her speech to her grandfather, “Papa,” the late Howard J. E., Jr.
2017, November 2– The AA League of Parents and Teachers held a blood drive in conjunction with the American Red Cross on November 2, 2017, in the school gymnasium.
When the drive was complete, 20 units of blood were donated, which can be used to save 60 lives . . .
2017, November 1– AA Senior Daniel E. took the opportunity to outline that he has found his vocation, and will be pursuing a degree in elementary education at Longwood University.
Daniel dedicated his speech to his Aunt Linda Duncan, a long-time educator and counselor at the Academy who passed away in 2015 . . .
2017, October 31– The AA Beta and Junior Beta Club officers attended a leadership summit on Thursday, November 2 and Friday, November 3, 2017 . . .
2017, October 28– AA faculty and students participated in spirit week 2017. Hat day was a favorite in the lower school, while twin day and the faculty V. seniors volleyball game were highlights for the upper school.
2017, October 25– AA Senior Emily M. delivers the first Senior Chapel Talk of the 2017-18 school year. Emily took the opportunity to reflect on the positive aspect of failure in her Chapel Talk. Since Emily is known for her success, particularly in her academic pursuits, her topic may have seemed ironic at first.
2017, September 29– What began as a Hurricane Harvey relief drive, quickly morphed into an all-hurricane relief drive. Organized by teacher Jason Morris and AA senior Emily M., the drive spanned the month of September.
2017, September 11– 2,997 flags were placed on the Amelia Academy front lawn in remembrance of the lives lost in the September 11, 2001 attacks that toppled the World Trade Center towers. This is the 16th anniversary of the attacks, and we vow to never forget.
2017, August 25 – Amelia Academy initiated an Equestrian Studies program in 2016 for Upper School Students. Teacher and Director of Guidance Jennifer Faeth is the director. The program proved so popular, it was expanded to include students from 6-12 grade this year.
2017, August 21 – Several new faces greeted students at Amelia Academy this fall. The Upper School welcomed Mont Linkenauger, Jason Morris and Martha Womack. Between them, they bring more than 75 years of teaching and coaching credentials to the table.
2017, August 21– Amelia Academy is on a quest to address all of its students' interests and academic needs. They are hiring top-notch instructors to teach a wide-variety of courses for college-prep, strengthening their Bible courses, and broadening special interest subjects like their long-term Industrial Arts program.
2018, August 21 – The Amelia Academy LPT presents the return of Movie Nights on Friday, August 25, at 7 PM, featuring SING. Refreshments will be available for a nominal fee.
2017, June 20 – The Board of Directors meets on the second Wednesday of each month. The next three meetings are scheduled for July 12th, August 9th, and September 13th, each beginning at 6 pm. Should anyone like to speak to the board, please contact Carol Chambers at 561-2270 by 5 pm on the Friday preceding the meeting. Please give the reason for the request to speak with the board, and your name will be added to the agenda. To ensure that multiple speakers can address the board individually, there are time restraints for each speaker.
2017, May 26 – Graduation exercises were held at Amelia Academy on Thursday, May 25. Matthew Charles Goodman, an Amelia Academy alumnus, was the guest speaker.
2017, May 26 – On Tuesday, May 23, the kindergarten class of Amelia Academy held their commencement exercise in the gym. Eight students under the guidance of Miss Janelle Jones fulfilled ...
2017, May 26 –The Amelia Academy Pre-kindergarten class held their graduation on Monday, May 22. Twenty students fulfilled the requirements for advancement to kindergarten.
