Amelia Academy Juniors and Seniors Attend University of Richmond Classes
Nov. 30, 2009 – The junior and senior classes at Amelia Academy attended Professor Patti Carey's communications classes at the University of Richmond last Monday, November 23. Professor Carey's students served as mentors in helping the Academy students develop a short speech of introduction. Then, the students practiced their speeches for communication students in the next class.
Academy students received feedback on strengths and areas for improvement in their communication skills. Professor Carey's students expressed their admiration for the Academy students' confidence and articulation.
"Our students truly benefit from this experience as they develop their communication skills and get a taste of college life," said Mrs. Jennifer Faeth, who teaches English at the Academy. "They particularly enjoyed the 'taste' of the excellent food served by the U of R dining hall."
Last week's program represents an ongoing partnership with the Academy and the University in which students participate in classes and programs.
