The Lady Patriots beat their opponents from Hampton Christian by thirty-eight points with a score of 67-29 on Tuesday night. Junior Lauren V. led the team with 33 points, 18 rebounds, and 4 steals. Following close behind was Junior Amara E., who also had a "double double" with 19 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals. Also in double figures was Sophomore Darlene H. with 11 points and 4 steals. Senior Lexi P. contributed to the win with 5 assists, 5 steals, 6 rebounds, and 4 points.
The second day brought continued action as the girls defeated Central Lunenburg by thirty-one points with a score of 78-47. The leading scorer for this match-up was Amara with 29 points, 11 rebounds, 6 steals, and 5 assists. Following Amara, Lexi scored 24 points, 9 assists, and had 3 steals. "I had many compliments on our aggressive team play and the girls’ 'college-like' style on the court," said Coach Frank Shanaberger. "We have proven we can compete on many levels, both in and outside of our conference. These girls are fun to watch."
The girls’ JV and Varsity teams will be in action at Amelia Academy as they take on the ladies from Christchurch on Thursday, January 6, at 5 and 6 p.m.
