Alumni and Friends
Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Bradshaw Bruce passed away on September 9, 2011. She was a first-grade teacher here at Amelia Academy from 1967
until retiring in 1985. Please keep her family and friends in your thoughts
and prayers.
What some people may not realize is that the word alumnus [male] or alumna [female] (plural alumni or alumnae) is derived from the Latin verb alere, which has among its meanings “to feed, nourish, rear, cherish, support, maintain (and) develop.”
It is important that all of us associated with Amelia Academy help to nourish and develop it, so that we can best meet the needs of our students. With this in mind, I ask alumni to help form an alumni exploratory committee to discuss various ways to found an alumni association.
