Lower School
Amelia Academy has a college preparatory curriculum that begins with a sound foundation program. The well-designed curriculum in phonics and reading allows for individual participation as well as expression in areas beyond the basic academic requirements. Small, self-contained classes provide a structured environment and one-on-one teaching opportunities. Each class schedule is different to accommodate enrichment classes in physical education, computers, drama, library, art, hands-on science activities and religious/ethics studies. Participation in forensics and creative writing competitions are encouraged.
Students also participate in an annual field day made possible through the Academy's membership in the Association of Virginia Academics that adds to the physical education requirements and fun inside and outside the classroom.
